The Balmoral is a small
country hotel situated in the centre of Moffat, a former spa town
(the poet Robert Burns
was one of the many visitors who came here to take the waters) and
now a major sheep-farming centre as well
as an ideal tourist location within easy reach of Edinburgh,
Glasgow, Galloway and the Lake District. |

Moffat itself offers an 18
hole golf course, open to non-members, an excellent visitor centre
and a museum. The
surrounding countryside offers good hill-walking and fishing, with
several historical sites located nearby. |
